A new survey has found that people in the UK are increasingly concerned about housing for future generations.
Shelter, the organisation behind the survey, discovered more than nine out of ten people believe the next generation will be unable to afford to buy or rent a home.
Seven out of ten people also said they are alarmed by rising house prices.
The director of Shelter, Adam Sampson told the Guardian: "These results are a clear indication that the housing crisis is biting at the heels of ordinary people in villages, towns and cities across the country, leaving them with an appetite for housing reform."
He added: "The pressure is on political parties to make serious commitments if they are to gain voters' confidence." Average house prices have increased once again - this time by more than 11 per cent. A house in Britain will now set you back £182,920.
According to Shelter, more than 100,000 households have been made homeless or are trapped in temporary accommodation due to price rises.
The shadow housing minister, John Hayes attacked Labour plans, saying: "Under Mr Blair hard working families have been hit by Labour's stealth taxes on property.
"The government have helped kick a whole generation off the housing ladder through council tax hikes, freezing stamp duty thresholds and slashing 'right to buy' discounts," Mr Hayes added.
